Sources & method
How I work, and where I look.
- 01Every number has a source and a date
Prices, rankings and benchmarks say where they come from and when they were read. If a figure is not verified, I say so.
- 02Facts and opinions kept apart
Guides explain; opinions are labelled and signed. Rumours are marked "unconfirmed".
- 03No sponsored links
I don't earn from tool links. If sponsorships ever appear, they will be disclosed.
- 04AI as a tool, humans accountable
I use AI for research and drafts; every text is reviewed and figures are checked at the original source.
- 05Corrections welcome
Found an error or an outdated figure? Write to me: I fix it and show the update date.
Sources I recommend
The four reference sources
These are the sites I start from for rankings, prices, tools and news: every figure on the site shows its source and date.
Artificial Analysis
artificialanalysis.ai ↗Independent benchmarks of intelligence, speed and cost for hundreds of models. The reference for numbers.
When to use it: To pick an API model or see what a task really costs.
Arena
arena.ai ↗Rankings built from millions of blind, side-by-side votes by real people.
When to use it: To see which model people prefer for text, code, images and video.
There's An AI For That
theresanaiforthat.com ↗The largest catalogue of AI tools: 50,000+ tools searchable by task.
When to use it: To find the right tool for a specific, niche task.
TestingCatalog
testingcatalog.com ↗News, previews and features in testing at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta, often before launch.
When to use it: To see what's coming next. Rumours need confirming.
